Did you Know?Tashi Delek
Tashi Delek means, "good luck, blessings and greetings and many good things to come" in Tibetan.
In her native land of Tibet, the Lhasa Apso is known as Apso Seng Kye, "Bark Lion Dog" because of the long hair that crowns their face. It is said that "when a Lhasa Apso looks in the mirror, he/she sees a lion."
The history of the Lhasa Apso originates from Tibet. These dogs of Tibet can in large measure be told by the history of that country's monasteries. Many of the dogs were kept in monasteries and treated as sacred animals. They even participated in the religious activities. The belief that the sturdy little Lhasas were the abode for the souls of the deceased rulers of the country was at one time so widespread and unquestioned that a religious rite revolving around the dogs sprung up. The dogs were brought near bodies of the dead in cases where it was suspected that some evil was present in the corpse and were thought to be able to dispel the evil by their mere presence.
